A modern high-quality pool heater can expand your swimming season. Within the few months that we have for summers in Ontario, each additional day in the pool counts.

While today’s pool heaters are well-built and designed to provide a long time of reliable heating capabilities, there will still come a time when you will need to replace them.

Pool Heaters vs. Heat Pumps:-

Over a short period of time, gas pool heaters heat the water by using burners.

With a heat pump, water is heated at a slower, steadier rate by using the surrounding environment temperature & pressurized gas.

The cost of a heat pump is higher, but it performs better. The average pool owner spends less than $120 per season on gas when the temperature is around 25 degrees. As a result of Ontario’s endless swimming season, heat pumps are unable to perform their primary function.

Types of pool heaters:-

Gas pool heaters

Generally, Ontario pools are heated with either natural gas or propane from pool heaters. Through a pump and heat exchanger, the cold water circulates back and forth in a loop. With the help of burners, water flows into and eventually returns to the pool through the heat exchanger.

There are several advantages to using a gas pool heater :-

1. Providing a higher BTU rating, allowing your pool to heat up quickly

2. Less working time compared to electric heaters

3. Less costly to operate than electric heaters

4. Make sure the heater is properly measured for your pool. Over or undersized pool heaters work inefficiently or consume more energy than necessary to heat your pool.

Electric pool heaters

Electric pool heaters are less popular in Ontario due to their high cost of operation. They use an electric current to generate energy and warmth through the heater’s component. Warm air is dispersed over the heating component, which warms the water while cooling the heater.

Electric pool radiator benefits include:

1. A cheaper alternative to gas heaters

2. Trustworthiness

3. It has a longer life span, if maintained regularly. It can cool and heat a pool at the same time.

While there are numerous benefits to electric heating for your pool, operational costs are high and we suggest that our clients consider a gas alternative.
